Copper Tools

Copper Tools are the least durable of the tools, though they are the easiest to produce and available early on in game.

An early-game option to produce simply; a blacksmith will bypass the smelting of the copper ore prior, and can make the tools straight from the ore, plus a log and firewood.

Properties

A standard Copper Tool has a Trade value of 8. The 'fine' (Copper Tool*) and 'finer' (Copper Tool*^) versions are processed versions and gain an extra 2 or 4 trade value respectively per output. Copper Tools are not a demanded trade product and their trade quantity stacks are small.

All variants of the Copper Tools have a storage weight of 10. Commonly stored in a Barn, they use the Resource Flag 'Tools'.

Production

Production of Copper Tools is easily achieved without a furnace at a workshop with Copper. From Copper Ore a Blacksmith can create a primitive copper tool with a forge fired by Firewood. From each input, the blacksmith will output 1-2 Copper Tools depending on their education. Only one tool is processed and outputted at the Grindstone at a time.

Copper Ore can be easily used at the start of a game to produce tools. Requiring 4 Copper Ore + 1 Log + 2 Firewood, this method has a per cycle input cost of 18. Uneducated will have a loss of 10 with only 1 Copper Tool made, meanwhile; an Educated worker will have a total loss of 2 or 1 per Copper Tool.

Using a refined Copper to produce Copper Tools results in a higher efficiency. Either requiring 1 Copper + 1 Log or 1 Copper + 1 Timber. The method using a Log has a per cycle input cost of 14. Uneducated will have a loss of 6 with only 1 Copper Tool made, meanwhile; an Educated worker will make a total profit of 2 or 1 per Copper Tool. The method using Timber has a per cycle input cost of 16. Uneducated will have a loss of 8 with only 1 Copper Tool made, meanwhile; an Educated worker will make neither a profit or a loss. The overall use of Timber is more viable despite this, as 4-5 pieces of timber can come from one log.

Durability

Tool Quality - see also: Tools

Copper being a soft, malleable, and ductile metal is unsuited for durable village tools. Copper Tools have a lower quality value than iron tools, though like other tools you can increase their quality at a grindstone (see below).

New copper tools can be further sharpened and prepared by a blacksmith at a grindstone, they become Copper Tool* (RawMaterialCopperToolFine.rsc) they are of higher quality and longer life. If they are also processed with the use of Linseed Oil, these tools will benefit from an even higher durability, they become Copper Tool*^ (RawMaterialCopperToolFiner.rsc).
